PhD Student Opening

De Hoop’s laboratory is seeking students interested in earning a doctoral degree in either mathematics, machine learning or Earth sciences. Interested individuals should contact Professor Maarten V. de Hoop in October or November of the year preceding anticipated entry, and apply via the Department of Mathematics, Electrical and Computer Engineering or the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Rice University. Express your interest in the lab’s research in your application statement. We seek excellence in a range of areas including analysis, machine learning, mathematical and scientific computation and geophysics.

The laboratory offers year-round research funding for students and provides opportunities for collaboration in interdisciplinary projects including planetary missions.
